We are in the Midst of a "Longevity Revolution"
-
Life expectancy in the 1900's was 40+. Life expectancy in the 2000's is
85+.
-
By 2050 (or earlier) one in four people will be over 65 years.
-
There are more 85 year olds living today than there are people who have
reached the age of 85 years in the history of the world.
-
The oldest living person lived to be 122 years and 9 months. Living to
be 120 years, in the future, is entirely possible.
Notes:
- Longevity is a great accomplishment. But without simultaneous improvements
or maintenance in quality of life, it's a hollow accomplishment.
